Valentine

"My long sleep has given me time to atone."

Vincent Valentine is a paradox of a video game character; despite being an optional, easily-overlooked party member with comparatively little development, he still managed to become one of FFVII's biggest icons. Was it his badass-ness? His eye-catching costume? Or maybe just his funky name? I had no intention of liking him upon picking the game up, but ended up falling for the dashing gunslinger through a combination of all of that and a little more.

Vincent is your traditional handsome badass with all the trimmings: an introverted personality, a long and hard life experience which he shares with the younger protagonist, and a horrific past which causes him constant anguish. Despite this, he's also a loyal and trusted member of AVALANCHE, and it's clear that the others greatly value him as a friend and fighter.
